I have never been shy about the fact that I love open access. That means I think all published research should be free for anyone to read and not hidden behind expensive paywalls. I also believe in making research accessible by explaining it to other researchers, academics and members of the public.
I was approached by Eyqew after publishing my Genetics: Back to Basics videos about putting them on their site and becoming a contributer.
“Eyqew is a digital publication platform aimed at making educational materials widely accessible to practitioners and the academic community, regardless of geographic or socioeconomic limitations. Eyqew is dedicated to the proliferation of educational content to the global community. Educators, professionals, and experts in their respective fields can contribute content to Eyqew, making these quality educational materials available to everyone.”
The idea of the site appeals to me on many levels. The aim is to have no barriers to education other than the personal wish to gain knowledge. I now have an author page on Eyqew (found here) which will be added to in the near future. Both my videos are now available on the site (here!) and I’ll be adding to those pages as well.
I’m excited about starting this partnership with Eyqew as fundamentally we have the same ideas. I just want to make useful resources that people enjoy and want to use and share.
I’m sure there will be more to update you all on as this new venture progresses and I’m excited by the possibilities it may open up to me.
